The ROCK Indoor Reopening Plan
The ROCK Indoors
Starting September 17, we will be meeting indoors in the Worship Center from 7-9PM every Thursday. We will maintain a 6 foot social distance and ask that everyone wear a mask to stay safe. We’ll spend the evening having fun and growing closer to God! We will play a gym game, worship with a live band, and hear a biblical message before heading off to our Life Groups. We’re looking forward to our time of fellowship with one another! For students and families who are not comfortably gathering indoors in a socially-distanced group, we will continue to make our messages available on YouTube. We may post them later in the evening, but you can be assured that the videos will be available.
What to bring
- Mask
- Bible, Notebook, Pen/Pencil
Check-In
You’ll be greeted by volunteer staff directing students to our check in station in the atrium. A volunteer will ask your name for a touch-free check in. We will have four volunteers checking in students to avoid a line, but will have marks on the ground to ensure social distancing in case you have to wait. Hand sanitizer will be provided at check in and we ask all students to sanitize their hands before entering. We will also have masks available for anyone who needs one.
If you have a new student attending, he or she may need to complete a registration card when checking in. Please make sure your student knows his or her address and parent phone number because we need this information to contact you and help them get connected at the ROCK.
Hugs & High Fives?
We know that it will be exciting to see one another, and the tendency is to hug or high five. We will avoid all physical contact for a while. We are going to smile and wave a lot!
Large Group Seating
We will begin the night with an open floor in the Worship Center for our game. The floor will have tape marks to place chairs 6 feet apart. Staff will help students place their chairs appropriately to ensure proper social distancing and we ask that students do not move chairs. Chairs will be sanitized between meetings.
Masks
We ask that all students and staff wear a mask or face covering because we want to ensure we are keeping each other safe. We are respectful toward parents & students who prefer to wear masks and those who prefer not to. Although there are different preferences among families, we ask that everyone who chooses to attend wears a mask. We will ask our students to wear their masks during the program until they are seated and the message starts. Once the message is over, students will need to put their masks back on before moving around the building and heading to Life Groups. Students will wear masks and stay socially distanced in Life Groups.
Life Groups
Our Life Groups are small groups of students that will be meeting around the building. Students and staff will be required to wear masks and social distancing is encouraged in their Life Group room or meeting space.
Health
When you come to youth group, please be aware of the health of your family members and yourself. If you are not feeling well, please stay home and watch the service on YouTube when it’s available. Feel free to ask for prayer and we will have the volunteer staff team pray for you by name. You know your health best, so please only bring your healthiest you to the ROCK.
Restrooms
The downstairs restrooms in the church will be available, however, please try to utilize your bathroom at home prior to coming to coming to youth group. Please note that the bathrooms will not be available for congregating. Bathrooms will be sanitized prior to each youth group.
What happens if someone who has attended the ROCK tests positive for COVID-19?
We will be requesting that any member/attendee who tests positive for COVID-19 and has attended any worship service of Oak Pointe Church will notify the church office immediately by way of info@oakpointe.org or phoning 248-912-0043. The highest levels of privacy will be maintained; no individual names of any who disclose to the church office a positive COVID-19 test result will be publicized or made known to the rest of the church. Oak Pointe Church may also elect to notify all attendees of the particular service that someone who attended their service tested positive (again, their identity will remain anonymous).
